Welcome to Snooker cue re tipping guide

Below is our guide to help you when attempting the challenging job of replacing your trusty tip.

Cue re tipping instructions:  Steps 1 to 10

1.
Cut off old tip. (use a craft knife / blade)

2. Clean off old glue and remains of old tip. ( scrape until clean with a craft knife / blade, never use sandpaper on the ferrule)

3. Make sure that the top of the ferrule is perfectly clean and flush.

4. Flatten the back of the new tip with a fine abrasive sandpaper, always use a level surface.

5. Apply one small drop of glue to the top of ferrule. If possible use a 2-part epoxy resin glue such as Araldite or if in a hurry Superglue gel) Be very careful if using normal superglue, do not to let it drip onto the shaft.

6. Place the tip onto the glue / ferrule and centre up. Press down firmly. Wipe off any excess glue then release pressure. For best results leave overnight for glue to dry properly.

7. Turn cue upside down on cutting board and trim off excess tip to size of ferrule.

8. With a flat low to medium type file / file sander, file the tip to a rough dome shape, only file from the centre of the tip outwards.

9. With fine abrasive paper smooth sidewall of tip into ferrule, making sure not to touch the wood of the shaft below the ferrule.

10. Finish off shaping to a dome shape with a tip shaper or sandpaper.
